At 23 years old, I am in a season of growth, purpose, and determination. Each day, I work as a medical assistant at Heartland Dermatology and Skin Cancer Center, PA, where I have the privilege of being directly involved in patient care. In this role, I assist providers with procedures, prepare patients for examinations, document medical information, and help ensure that each person who walks through the door feels heard and supported. Working in dermatology has allowed me to see firsthand how physical health and emotional well-being are deeply connected. Whether it is helping with skin cancer screenings, assisting in biopsies, or supporting patients managing chronic skin conditions, I am constantly reminded why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare. While I value the experience I am gaining as a medical assistant, I know that this is only one step in a much larger journey. I am currently enrolled in a biomedical sciences master’s program to further strengthen my academic foundation and deepen my understanding of human biology, disease processes, and clinical research. Graduate school has challenged me to think critically, manage my time effectively, and balance the demands of rigorous coursework with hands-on clinical experience. Although it requires discipline and sacrifice, it reinforces my commitment to advancing in the medical field. My ultimate goal is to become a physician assistant. I am drawn to the PA profession because it blends autonomy with collaboration, allowing providers to build meaningful relationships with patients while working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals. I aspire to be a compassionate and knowledgeable clinician who not only diagnoses and treats illness but also advocates for patients and empowers them through education. Every step I take, whether studying late into the night or supporting patients during a busy clinic day, brings me closer to that goal. At 23, I am driven by both ambition and empathy. My journey is fueled by a genuine desire to help others, and I am committed to becoming a physician assistant who makes a lasting difference in the lives of my patients.
